Hi,

I am working on a uk health and safety qualification. I have been asked to complete a comprehensive hazard audit of my workplace (college) including appropriate categories of hazards (eg chemical, bio, mechanical, etc, etc. Has anyone done anything like this before and has an example they can email me please or share best practice, etc please?

Regards

I have used the attached file on several occasions. This is aligned to Australia/NSW OHS law and Regulation.
You could develop one aligned to your relevant legislative instruments in UK.

A friend of mine, Keith Clauscen used to be the OHS guy at the University of Southern Queensland and would have a very good working knowledge of your issues. Keith worked with me as an Inspector with Workplace Health & Safety Queensland and can be contacted via k.clauscen@deir.qld.gov.au - tell him I said g'day.

There is a wealth of information available through the Australasian University Safety Association web site (http://www.ausa.org.au/), which provides links to the OHS web pages of most Australian Universities and a number of Unis in NZ, Hong Kong, the USA and the UK.

Hi Chris,
I've attached a hazard assessment sheet which is specific to the mining industry (so a lot of it won't apply to your situation), but the general nature and some of the question prompts might give you some ideas. It's a simple pocket hazard prompt sheet for workers to use when assessing their work areas. The first page has the prompt questions, the second page allows them to record hazards they've found and what controls they will put in place to manage them.

Here's the blog post which references the prompt sheet:

Hope this helps a little.
Cheers,
