Presentation by Clarke Martin WorkSafe Vic in Canberra

I understand that Clarke Martin spoke to a group in Canberra earlier this month and wondered what the topic was and how his presentation was received? Did he only speak to SIA members or was it a general safety discussion?

I wasn't there but I understand that the topic was whether there should be qualification requirements for OHS consultants in other jurisdictions, as I believe there now are in Victoria. The presentation was an SIA event.
Thanks Mark,
As I understand it, SIA has upgraded the criteria for Chartered Professional member status (and the higher grades) which applies nationally and this has come about as a result of the HaSPA initiatives lead by Clarke Martin. People wanting to join SIA as a CPMSIA must now have a Degree,or Grad Cert and 5 years experience. Of course anyone can join as a member but to upgrade from member you will need university qualifications.
There still needs to be an effective way of quantifying the years and depth of experience that safety guys who have spent a good 20 plus years in the field have.
Would anyone like to add to this discussion on this topic?
