Further Training or Resources
It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has attended the training regarding what further training courses or resources they think would be useful to them now that they've gone out into the field, so to speak, and are dealing with real health and safety issues at the coalface.

I think that is a very good idea. There is already some material around for such a course so it wouldn't have to be worked up from scratch.

I've done a Workstation Assessors course which was great as I work in an office environment.
And, while not specifically OH&S related, I think HSRs should do some courses like "hot heads", negotiating skills etc.
What I have found lacking in my workplace is an internal communication network for people with OHS responsibilities and clear pathways for escalating issues. In an organisation like mine, I am amazed that it can be so difficult to establish.
I can't imagine how lost or frustrated HSRs in small private organisations might feel, not having anyone else to go to for assistance. It also concerns me that a lot of them may not use email or the internet on a day to day basis (eg childcare workers) and would be even more out of the loop. I know there would be costs to consider, but perhaps a paper newsletter sent via snail mail, maybe every 3 or 6 months would be good for them (perhaps sent to the workplace rather than the individual as people do tend to move on!).
